JOB TITLE: Compliance Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Compliance Specialist is responsible for processing the criminal background screenings including fingerprinting of all applicants and applicable participants on the Housing Choice Voucher Program. The Compliance Specialist is also responsible for monitoring the Police Department weekly arrest report and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation monthly sexual offenders report to ensure participants are adhering to the HCVP's Family Obligations.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processes routine criminal background screenings on applicants and participants of the Housing Choice Voucher Program to ensure eligibility and ongoing compliance.
- Routinely analyzes Police Department and Georgia Bureau Investigation (GBI) criminal activity reports; compares results with current participants; and submits for further investigation or proposed termination where needed.
- Participates in mediation with program participants in an effort to resolve pending violations that may otherwise result in termination from the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
- Provides excellent customer service to all customers and landlords participating in the Housing Choice Voucher Program; responds to inquiries and requests from customers, landlords, and the general public.
- Supports the team’s administrative needs, assists in the periodic production of internal and external reports, manages the correspondence and routes appropriately and resolves team escalations.
- Contributes to assigned team; actively participates in team meetings, process improvements and other special projects; collaborates with and supports all team members and follows through on initiatives and assignments as directed.
- Documents all tasks completed in the appropriate customer file in the computer system; maintains hard documentation for all transactions in a neat and organized manner in accordance with established file requirements in preparation for informal hearing and proposed terminations.
- Responsible for timely and accurate follow-ups to complete tasks; utilizes only agency approved forms, letters, and correspondence; assures that all correspondence issued is the correct and most recent version
- Performs other related tasks as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Some college with coursework in social work, public policy or similar field
- 1+ years’ experience with public housing or similar programs
- Fair Housing & Reasonable Accommodation Certification
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of the organization, Housing Choice Voucher Program and/or HUD section 8 programs preferred
- Knowledge of National Crime Information Center & Georgia Crime Information Center
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, documents, information and publications.
- Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking to solve problems.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high quality service standards and accuracy.
- Superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence, interview and negotiate to forge positive relationships with clients, co-workers and colleagues.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in an office environment. May require frequent bending, stooping, reaching and prolonged sitting.
