Job Summary: The Accountant II will perform professional accounting duties to support the financial operations of County departments. This role involves analyzing and interpreting accounting processes, preparing and maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations. The Accountant II will play a key role in preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and providing detailed budget analyses. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with internal departments to resolve financial discrepancies and contribute to the efficient management of county resources.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Compile and analyze financial data to prepare reports and statements to determine financial conditions and aid the County Departments in making informed decisions regarding expenditures and budget amounts.
- Process accounts payables / receivables including grant monies by processing documentation and monitoring finances and program status.
- Audit accounting or program records to verify accuracy.
- Monitor and update special reports or statements and reconcile to the general ledger.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and one year of related experience. Public sector experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to collaborate with internal departments to resolve financial discrepancies and contribute to the efficient management of county resources.
