Job Title: Director, Financial Operations

The Director of Financial Operations is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of accounts payable and treasury functions. This leadership role ensures that all financial processes are executed with precision, efficiency, and compliance with federal and state regulations. The Director manages key functions including disbursements, vendor payments, cash flow analysis, unclaimed property reporting, and investment account oversight, while mentoring and developing a high-performing finance team.

Position Summary:
The Director of Financial Operations is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of accounts payable and treasury functions. This leadership role ensures that all financial processes are executed with precision, efficiency, and compliance with federal and state regulations. The Director manages key functions including disbursements, vendor payments, cash flow analysis, unclaimed property reporting, and investment account oversight, while mentoring and developing a high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct daily operations of accounts payable and cash management functions.
- Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, providing coaching, training, and performance management.
- Oversee the end-to-end invoice and payment process, including transaction posting, issue resolution, and interdepartmental coordination.
- Manage the validation, reconciliation, and processing of program-related disbursements.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of purchase orders and all types of disbursements (contractual and non-contractual).
- Coordinate the annual 1099 filing process in compliance with IRS regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and reporting of monthly financial accruals.
- Manage the unclaimed property due diligence and remittance process in compliance with state law.
- Supervise all banking and investment account activities, including agreement management, bank fee monitoring, and reconciliation.
- Prepare weekly cash flow projections and ensure appropriate liquidity management.
- Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives, ensuring adherence to internal controls and best practices.
- Provide strategic insight and financial recommendations to senior leadership.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 4+ years in Accounts Payable, Cash Management, or Financial Operations.
- Leadership: Proven experience managing and developing a team of finance professionals.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with financial systems and accounting software.
- Communication:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and discretion in handling confidential matters.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.
